Reception

Communication, Language and Literacy Development

This child is making words on the interactive white board, by moving the letters.

Children take part in daily phonics activities which enables them to learn letter sounds in preparation for reading and writing. They are encouraged to use their skills throughout the day, in all areas of the classroom.

Mathematical Development

The children rolled dice and added the spots. They wrote number sentences to show what they did.

In maths, we learn how to count, recognise and use numbers, solve problems, and calculate. We also learn about shapes and measurement, with lots of practical activities.

Creative Development

The children are making music with the various instruments.

As part of their creative development, children have the opportunity to experiment with a variety of media, engage in music making, role play and dance.

Personal, Social and Emotional Development

This group are playing together, taking turns and sharing.

We aim to provide experiences that enable children to develop their personal and social skills, such as forming relationships and respecting others.

Physical Development

I am balancing!

Children experience gym and dance lessons, as well as being able to develop skills in our outdoor space. They use a variety of equipment, such as the climbing frame, bikes, trikes, bats and balls. These are available daily for the children to choose.

Knowldege and Understanding of the World

We went on an Autumn Walk, looking at the seasonal changes and crunching the Autumn leaves.

This area of learning covers ICT, Science, History, Geography and RE. Through topics, we provide opportunities for children to explore and investigate the world around them.
